Motorola has just launched its brand new smartphone in India on Tuesday. The device is called Motorola Moto E (second generation), the same name as the phone’s predecessor. The price of the device is 6999 INR, which is about 112 dollars. The smartphone was first introduced a month ago. At the unveiling of the Moto E Gen 2, the company has shown a 4G/LTE compatible version of the smartphone too, called Moto E LTE, which will be released in about a month in India. The standard version of the Moto E can only access to 3G (and below) networks, it can’t access 4G/LTE. That’s why Motorola is releasing another version of the phone, which is compatible with the network.

The Look
The phone, after 10 minutes of brainstorming what phrase would describe it the best, looks like a standard Android smartphone. It is not big, not small, just a normal looking phone. The device is 4.5 inches big, which is 0.2 inches bigger than it was in the previous version of the gadget. The smartphone features a 960×540 pixel QHD screen, which has stayed the same as it was in the first generation of the Moto E. The display looks beautiful, however, if we use it outdoors, the brightness could seem pretty low. Apart from that, the screen’s quality is quite good.

Motorola is using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for screen protection, which protects the display well from scratches and breaks. However, it is not a technology that makes the phone unbreakable, so we have to pay attention and look out for the device in order to prevent accidents.

The device has an anti-smudge coating, which covers visible fingerprints on the display and on the back of the phone. This technology works pretty well, however, on the display some fingerprints can be noticed.

Specifications
The second generation Moto E comes with a quad core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon central processing unit, which provides excellent speed for the device. Although the CPU is quite great, the graphic card seems to be pretty low quality comparing to other devices’. The phone has an integrated Adreno 302 graphics card in it, along with 1 GB RAM. The phone features a 2390 mAH battery, which is sufficient for a moderate sized phone and a moderate quality screen. Using the phone at a hundred percent for 6 hours could drain the battery’s life to the minimum though.

Motorola Moto E Gen 2
What’s best in the release of the device is that the phone has a 5.02 Android Lollypop operating system installed on it. The number of smartphones on the market (or tablets), which have Lollypop installed on them is quite rare. This puts the Moto E (gen 2) into a quite great advantage versus Motorola’s competitors. However, Motorola won’t use its advantage against Samsung or Apple, since the company’s markets are not the same. Motorola plans to get the most product sales from the Asian region, while Apple or Samsung plans to get them from Europe and North America. This can be seen in the price and the quality of the companies’ products too. Apple and Samsung prioritizes quality and sets up high prices, while Motorola and most Chinese manufacturers prioritize quantity and set low prices.

The device has a rear 5 MPX camera and a 0.3 (VGA) Megapixel camera on the front of the smartphone. The photos taken with the gadget seem to be neither good, nor bad, the phone takes photos and videos in a quite mediocre quality. Although the device shots mediocre pictures and videos, we can say some positive things from it too. The photos and videos taken with the gadget, from the point of brightness, are quite great. Most of the phones have big problems with lighting, however, the Motorola Moto E is not among them.

Verdict
The Motorola Moto E Gen 2 is a great smartphone for a decent price, it is really a bang for the buck. If we don’t want to spend much money on the phone and we are in India at the moment, then it is a quite great decision to buy this smartphone. However, if we look around and check the upcoming smartphones in 2015, most probably, there will be better devices for even better prices.
